There is always something intriguing about
empty houses – how did they come to be abandoned? who lived there
before and what happened to them? Or do people live there, hiding behind
the curtains upstairs, only peeping out when it is dark?
This house is on the Thorpe Road, just
before the turning up to Cotman Road. It is a reasonably central
location, and I am sure it would be worth a decent price, being on a
good sized plot and close to Cotman Road and Telegraph Lane East where
houses tend to be sought after. It is on the main road but set back
with a large expanse of grass buffering it from the traffic. But it is
empty and has been for some time. The downstairs window has a metal
screen protecting it from vandals and squatters. The upstairs window
has curtains but I don’t think they ever move.
There is no “for sale” sign. I will keep an
eye on it and watch out for a twitching of a curtain, an indentation in
the wild flower lawn in front where people have prowled across.
